Online: A Conversation with the Mule Patrol Unit

Home to the largest black rhino population in the world, Namibia is a crucial country for rhino conservation. Following severe poaching losses in the 1980s, black rhinos here have recovered to a population of more than 2,000 today. Yet, the poaching risk remains. Close monitoring is key to ensure the wellbeing of individual rhinos and support the growth of this important population.

The Kunene region – a vast, arid landscape in north west Namibia – is a special place for black rhinos. Uniquely adapted to the desert habitat, black rhinos here are spread out far and wide, often living in areas inaccessible by car. Finding these rhinos and checking in on their health and behaviour is, therefore, extremely difficult.

During this exclusive online talk, we’ll be speaking with members of Save the Rhino Trust Namibia‘s Team, understanding how some four-legged friends are helping them to reach and record more of the incredible rhinos living in the Kunene desert.

Join our CEO, Dr Jo Shaw, for a conversation with Save the Rhino Trust Namibia’s CEO, Simson, and Head of the Mule Patrol Unit, Noag, to find out more about what they do each day, the impact of the Mule Patrol Unit on their work, and how you can help.

This event will be recorded and shared shortly after the event. Please register to receive a link to the recording.
